The year was 2020. The COVID lockdown was in full swing. We were all stuck at home—confused, terrified, day-drinking like it was a game show, binge-watching Tiger King, and pretending to care about sourdough starters. Meanwhile, Dolly Parton was out there being a literal angel, donating millions to COVID research through Vanderbilt University. Naturally, I was inspired. If Dolly was going to help save the world, I figured the least I could do was follow her lead—so I bought a dozen glorious Saint Dolly prayer candles. I handed one out to anyone who donated at least $50 to Vanderbilt for COVID research. These little candles ended up blessing more than just my friends—they basically paved the way for Texrah. I thought, “Wait a second, I can totally do this!” And with a bit of business know-how, I decided to go all in.

The first few candles were designed by a young Russian lady nicknamed The Wizard. She was so crazy talented! She was responsible for the illustrations of Saint Dolly, Tina, Cher, Divine among others. That was going well then Russia invaded Ukraine. Sanctions were imposed and I was unable to pay her anymore. So I had to lean on myself and start designing them myself. That was about 90 candles ago.
